Origin: As the name suggests, this rock is indigenous to Central Texas.
Composition: It is a form of limestone, composed primarily of calcium carbonate (calcite and dolomite).
Appearance: Its most defining characteristic is the abundance of holes, crevices, and tunnels, which were formed naturally over time by water erosion (a process called karst formation). This gives it a "Swiss cheese" or "honeycomb" look.
Color: The rock typically ranges from light cream, beige, or off-white to a light tan color.
